Effective Training for Effective Management

Students in education, training and learning also learn and practice new skills which prepare them for varied post-secondary education and training options, from two-year associate’s degrees to four-year bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The education, training and learning process include both classroom instruction and fieldwork experience. There are many colleges and universities with education, training and learning programs, such as the University of Phoenix, Southern New Hampshire University, Grand Canyon University, Babson College and Bethel College.

Those pursuing a Bachelor’s degree can gain both theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge by participating in on-the-job training and interning with an industry professional who has significant experience in their field. There are a variety of areas where graduate students can get hands-on training and experience, such as accounting, advertising, auditing, business administration, courses in communication, computer science, economics, environmental sciences, finance, insurance, marketing, political science, religious studies and technology. During the graduation process, students may choose to participate in thesis and dissertation research, internships, apprenticeships or entry-level employment. Some graduates go on to teach or train in various fields at a college or university. Others pursue higher education or work within an organization’s training and development department.

A number of organizations offer employees the opportunity to complete short-term training programs, such as seminars or online courses. These programs help employees hone theoretical knowledge, develop their communication skills and improve their working knowledge of the workplace environment. Training is most effective when it provides employees with both practical information and instruction on the topics that pertain to their line of work. The programs should teach employees how to effectively coordinate with co-workers, supervisors and managers to accomplish tasks assigned to them. For example, an education, training and learning program that trains employees on project management should include an introduction to managing multiple projects; methods for conflict resolution; the strengths and weaknesses of project planning, implementation and assignment; the dynamics of teamwork; and other techniques for ensuring a project is successful.
